First devlog and gamebuild


Hello everybody,

This is my first devlog and posted build after working for a couple of years on Holodeck. I finally think it's in a somewhat playable state and I'm hoping to get it in front of people and get some bugs and feedback.

It's all my own work (with music from the YT audio library) so if there's anything wrong, it's on me! I build it all in unity and I do my animating using procreate, which I then export to Aseprite for the spritesheets. I'm self-taught in programming and animation although I did do some basic programming at university in Adobe Director (yeah...).

I'm currently trying to resolve some issues with rewards not showing, some inconsistencies with UI window behaviour and I'm trying to revamp all fo the delays in the app to use Tasks instead of coroutines, should hopefully solve some of my timing issues and prevent things like ending combat while you have pending actions.

My next big feature is going to be the in-game shop, it'll let you buy new cards, sell unwanted cards, buy new relics and more. All with in-game currency mind.

I work on this project in my free time, I still have a full-time job and a 1 year old so my updates are slower than people who work on their projects as a day job but I am consistent and I hope to release Holodeck by the end of this year. The vast bulk of what I have left to do is artwork, animation and new content (plus all of the associated testing) but there's still scope for new features and I'll be supporting the game with new updates and bug fixes long after release.
